TIPS IN CAPTURING A GOOD PHOTO: Part 3

Tip number 5: Pick a Good Background

In taking a insect macro picture, is really awesome if you have a good camera. But you also need to consider the background. A good background will result a high possibility of a nice and lovely picture of an insects. If you spot an insect near a garbage can, it could be nice if it's a fly. But if it's a butterfly, it's not really nice to take a picture of a butterfly near garbage. A floral background will make the butterfly stand out and it's beauty will shown.

In this picture, a simple floral background shown the beauty of the butterfly. As you can see, the background is simple but elegant. Background can bring big impact in insects macro photography world. To add a simple technique, if the insect is far from the background you should use a second flash to illuminate the background from the insect

Tip number 6: Always check-up your Gear

Before going outside to hunt for an insect. You should always check your gears/gadgets because it's really not cool if you have the angles then you gadget will fail to take a shot. Before going outside (or even at night before you go to sleep) you should check if everything works perfect. A beautiful shout is really really hard to find. You must be ready because some insects cannot be pleased, like Wasp and Bees.

Tip number 7: Aiming Angles

As a photographer, you should always explore. In insects macro photography angles are really important. A single is not enough to take a goo picture. Some insects are really fast and they always move. So as photographer you should wait (Tip number 1: Have A Long Patience). Different angles are important in any fields of photography.

In this picture you can see that the angle of the camera doesn't center the model/insect (spider). It is nice to take different angles because sometime insects go from one corner to another and it can also bring the picture like their alive. A top view is nice but always aim for the eyes of the insects. It's their assets.

TIPS IN CAPTURING A GOOD PHOTO: Part 2

Tip number 3: Walk Slowly and Quietly

Most insects are shy type and really hard to deal with. While hunting walk slowly and quietly so you won't scare the insects. Any sudden movements will scare the insects away. They have great senses and they react really fast. They are always alert and ready to run in case of a predator's attack.

Never rushed up a shot. As i said, any sudden movements will scared the insect away. Slowly approach the insect. Take a focus, Aim your angle and then take the shot. Advice; don't be satisfied in one shot. Take few shots in one insects with different angles. You will never know you might get a winning shot.

Tip number 4: Wake Up Early in the Morning

"The early bird catches the early worm." Get up early and hunt, some insects are found in the morning. Specially spiders, they drink dew that came from leaves of grass early in the morning.
When you hunt early in the morning make sure to put protections from other insects like mosquitoes and other insects that carry disease. Some blood sucking insects sure hunt for victims too.

Most insects like spiders are easy to spot early in the morning. They are just hanging by their webs and waiting for another insects to be trapped in their web. Some rare spiders are found in trees and in rice plants (palay). It's easy to find and take a good shot early in the morning because you'll have a long time preparing and it's not hard to spot insects by morning .

Tip number 2: Hunt In Unexpected Place

More of times, insects are found in the least place you would expect. Like garbage cans, swamps and most of the times in darkest part of the house. It's fun to hunt insects inside your house because you don't have to go outside.

THE FLY (Ang Langaw)

Like any other places, flies are considered pest. Those tiny little insects that posses two flight wings and crawls everywhere that is dirty or sweet. In certain places that has a lot of food cart, flies are their mortal enemies. Besides of flying in to the garbage flies also love to dive in to food like burgers, fries and stuff. Sometimes it's really really irritating in such way, unless make they your model for a macro photography. Here's some sample.

The Fly (Ang Langaw)
Flies are founds in moist environments of some kinds (Mostly, it's the part where garbage are dump and water are stuck.) One characteristic of a fly is, it flies really fast and almost impossible to catch especially when they are trying to escape from their predators like (birds, larger insects and spiders). Another characteristic of a fly is, they are responsible in eating and removing carcasses in animals. Some of they also aid in pollination.

Flies body is compose of three parts. The head, thorax and the abdomen. Their have movable heads, large eyes and wings. Flies also have good sense of smell, whenever there's a strong smell of food, feces or garbage. They always go for kill.

Flies don's really look dirty and a threat. But, as they live in extremely dirty places they carry 200 pathogens and parasites. That are really dangerous to human health. To prevent catching unpleasant disease from flies always keep your environment clean and green.

Insects Photomacrography     -photography of Sam Bolivar
As a start, I'm Robert Russell C. Miguel. A fourth year student of Central Luzon State University (CLSU). One part of my course requires me to make a blog. It's hard to pick a good title that will make the first page of google search. I decided to include CLSU in my blog. CLSU has a total of 500,000 related searches. Still i
won't make to page 1 or 2. So i

decided to change my search key word, in spite of many trees are found in CLSU,
there's also insects. So i pick the title "Insects Macro Photography".
